The HIV Prevention 2020 Road Map presents 10 key actions for all countries to take to reduce new HIV infections, with the aim of reaching the global target of reducing HIV infections by 75 per cent by 2020.
The Roadmap provides a focus on five key pillars: combination prevention for adolescent girls, young women and their partners; combination prevention for key populations; comprehensive condom programming; voluntary male medical circumcision and sexual and reproductive health services for men and boys; and rapid introduction of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). All of these key pillars must be underpinned by a focus on evidence, community and human rights.
The Roadmap calls for an inclusive approach by governments, civil society organizations, networks of people living with HIV, faith-based organizations, networks of key populations, and international organizations and foundations. Such an approach is essential to chart the way forward to achieving global HIV prevention goals by 2020.
