On Monday 7 December, UNFPA will launch its largest ever humanitarian appeal, its Humanitarian Action 2021 Overview. At a time when aid budgets are under increasing pressure, the appeal will highlight the needs and rights of women and adolescent girls in emergencies and appeal to the international community to invest in their health, protection and well-being.
For 2021, UNFPA is appealing for $818 million to reach 54 million women, girls and young people in 68 countries. And in three countries (Yemen, Syria and Democratic Republic of the Congo) our programmes each require well over $50 million.
Speakers will include UNFPA's Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem and Goodwill Ambassador Ashley Judd. They will be joined by Julienne Lusenge, President of Female Solidarity for Integrated Peace and Development (SOFEPADI) and Director of the Congolese Women's Fund (DRC), as well as representatives from the EU and the UK government.
